As part of the City of Chicago’s Invest South/West initiative, the project consists of the gut renovation of an existing commercial building and construction of a new building to provide ground floor retail uses and upper-level residential units in a new Transit Oriented Development. The sustainable adaptive re-use project will provide a total of 52 affordable housing units along with needed commercial uses and will activate the street front with a new open air courtyard accessible to the public. Rivetna Architects executed the design for the renovation of the existing building and the new courtyard while Farr Associates acted as architects for the new construction.
